01Overview

What the TNO-C3012TRA is

The Hanwha TNO-C3012TRA is an AI radiometric thermal bullet camera built for industrial perimeter protection and critical infrastructure monitoring on sites where visible-light cameras leave gaps.

A 384x288 uncooled microbolometer sensor (17μm pixel pitch, upscaled to 768x576) with NETD below 30mK resolves subtle temperature differences that indicate both intrusion and equipment anomalies.

Radiometric measurement spans -40°C to +550°C across up to 10 programmable Region-Of-Interest zones — the practical difference from non-radiometric thermal is that you can set 'alert when this pump housing exceeds 80°C' for proactive equipment fault detection, not just 'alert when something warm moves'.

AI-based object classification distinguishes real people and vehicles from environmental thermal false triggers (sun-warmed metal, wildlife heat signatures, wind-driven vegetation), while perimeter analytics including intrusion, line crossing, and loitering add actionable intelligence.

The 90° horizontal / 65° vertical field of view suits mid-range perimeter monitoring, and the 8fps frame rate is standard for thermal imaging where each frame carries substantially more temperature data than a visible-light frame.

Rated IP66, IK10, and NEMA 4X, with a -40°C to +60°C operating range and pole/wall mount options, the TNO-C3012TRA is built for mining, industrial, and infrastructure sites.

Note: special order item with a 6-11 week lead time from order and payment — plan project timelines accordingly.

04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the TNO-C3012TRA

Radiometric = Equipment Monitoring, Not Just Intrusion

The pixel-level temperature measurement across up to 10 programmable ROI zones lets you set alerts on equipment temperature thresholds (motor bearings, pump housings, transformer cabinets) — proactive fault detection before visible failure, not just perimeter alerting.

Sees Through Smoke, Dust, and Fog

Thermal imaging works on heat signature, not reflected light — functions equally in complete darkness, dense smoke, light fog, or dust. The exact scenarios where visible-light cameras (even with IR) leave gaps.

AI Cuts Thermal False Positives

Environmental heat signatures — sun-warmed metal, wildlife, wind-driven vegetation, hot exhaust plumes — generate as many false triggers on thermal cameras as motion pixels do on visible-light ones. On-device AI person/vehicle classification filters them out.

Industrial-Grade Environmental Rating

IP66/IK10/NEMA 4X plus -40°C to +60°C operating range built specifically for mining, industrial, and critical infrastructure sites where standard commercial-grade cameras fail from thermal shock or vibration.

05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Mining and Industrial Site Perimeters

Thermal detection independent of visible light covers perimeter runs across dusty, smoke-prone conditions where standard IR cameras fail — meaningful on Australian mining operations, quarry sites, and industrial plant boundaries.

Critical Infrastructure Monitoring

Programmable ROI temperature zones enable proactive equipment fault detection on transformer yards, pump stations, and substations — early warning of bearing failures, insulation degradation, or overheating cabinets before visible smoke or failure.

Bushfire-Adjacent Rural Properties

Thermal imaging sees through smoke plumes that blind visible-light cameras — early hot-spot detection on properties with adjacent bushland, farm sheds, or timber stockpiles during high fire-risk seasons.

After-Hours Warehouse and Industrial Yards

Where site lighting shuts down and visible-light IR runs out at 30-40m, thermal detection continues across full yard perimeters — with AI classification filtering wildlife (kangaroos, foxes) from real intruders.

08Questions

Frequently asked about the TNO-C3012TRA

Q.01

Q: What's the difference between radiometric and non-radiometric thermal?
A: Radiometric cameras measure actual temperatures at each pixel — the TNO-C3012TRA reads temperatures across up to 10 programmable ROI zones spanning -40°C to +550°C. Non-radiometric thermal cameras only display heat contrast for imaging. Practical impact: you can set 'alert when this pump exceeds 80°C' with radiometric; non-radiometric only alerts on 'something warm moved'.
Q.02

Q: What's NETD and why does <30mK matter?
A: NETD (Noise-Equivalent Temperature Difference) is the smallest temperature difference the sensor can resolve. Less than 30mK is at the high end of commercial thermal — practically it means the camera can distinguish a person against ambient outdoor temperature at longer ranges, or detect early heat warnings from equipment before visible failure.
Q.03

Q: How does thermal imaging compare to visible-light + IR at night?
A: They work on different physics. Visible-light + IR reflects near-infrared light off subjects; thermal reads heat emitted by subjects. Thermal works in complete darkness, dense smoke, light fog, and dust — visible-light IR fails in all of those. Thermal doesn't provide traditional image detail (no colour, no fine texture) but detects presence and temperature across conditions where visible cameras leave gaps.
Q.04

Q: What's the lead time to receive this camera?
A: 6 to 11 weeks from date of order and payment. This is a special order item — the AI radiometric thermal category typically has long factory build queues. Plan project timelines accordingly rather than expecting stock delivery.
Q.05

Q: Can this replace a visible-light camera on the same mount?
A: Not generally — thermal complements visible-light rather than replacing it. Thermal has no colour/texture detail and lower resolution than modern visible cameras; it's the tool for scenarios where visible cameras fail (dark + smoke + dust + fog + wildlife heat filtering). Best deployed alongside visible cameras on the same infrastructure, not as a substitute.
Q.06

Q: What AI events does the camera support?
A: Person and vehicle classification distinct from environmental heat sources, plus perimeter analytics: virtual line crossing, intrusion into a defined zone, and loitering (subjects remaining beyond a configurable dwell time). This filters wildlife, sun-warmed metal, and exhaust plumes from real intrusion alerts.
Q.07

Q: How is the camera powered?
A: PoE (IEEE 802.3af/at) — verify your switch or injector supports the required PoE class. AT-class is safer for thermal cameras which typically draw more than AF class allows.
Q.08

Q: What operating temperature range is supported?
A: -40°C to +60°C — appropriate for Australian outback, mining, and industrial installations including cold-climate southern regions and hot northern sites.
