§ 01Overview
What the CP736B is
The Bosch CP736B is the colour keypad of the Solution 6000 range with a smart card reader built in. Its 3.5" colour graphical display with LED backlight shows system conditions in plain alphanumeric text, and its colour-coded, illuminated rubber keys are easy to find and press in any light.
The reader changes how the household or staff use the system. Presenting a MiFare card or token at the keypad arms or disarms without a PIN, so children, cleaners and casual staff do not need to remember a code, while PIN entry stays available for everyone else. Dedicated lock and egress terminals let the same keypad handle a door: the on-board lock output pulses for a fixed 5 seconds when triggered, and a push button on the egress input fires it from the inside.
Status is obvious at a glance. Red and green indicators show armed and disarmed areas, a blue indicator shows door status when access features are in use, and the in-built sounder gives key feedback and a siren sound during an alarm, with the volume programmable for each keypad. The installer can add a custom banner to the screen and users can set the brightness.
It connects over the panel's proprietary RS485 LAN and draws its power from it, +12VDC at 110mA maximum, with a +9VDC to +16VDC LAN supply range. It is supported on Solution 6000 and Solution 6000-IP panels as well as Vision-X and Vision-XIP, and a Solution 6000 takes up to 16 keypad or reader devices, each on its own LAN address.
The lock output does not power a door lock directly: a relay with a protection diode and a separate lock supply are required, and the optional CM444B relay module is made for that job. The keypad has no Wi-Fi of its own, is rated for 0 °C – 55 °C indoors, and carries a 3 years back-to-base warranty.

Main entry of an Australian home

Staff entrance of a shop or office
Near the staff door it gives card-based arming and disarming and, through its lock and egress terminals, a controlled door. Staff present a card to disarm on the way in, and the egress button lets them out through the controlled door.

Installation & setup
What's in the box
The Bosch CP736B arrives as the keypad with a manual and a mounting back plate. The panel, the LAN cable, cards or tokens and any door-lock hardware are separate.
Cabling and power
Run one cable from the panel's RS485 LAN to the keypad position; the keypad is LAN powered at +12VDC and 110mA maximum, with the LAN supply between +9VDC and +16VDC. The LAN can run up to 1200 m on the recommended cable, and further with LAN isolators; remember that a LAN+ Overload trouble means the LAN power terminal is drawing more than its rating.
Addressing
Every keypad on the LAN needs a unique address. Keypads leave the factory set to address 1, so set the address before fitting a second keypad and power cycle the panel or run a LAN scan whenever an address changes.
Door control
If the keypad will run a door, fit a relay with a protection diode on the lock output and power the lock from a separate supply; the optional CM444B relay module is made for this. Wire a momentary push button between the egress input and keypad ground for exit.
Commissioning
Once the cards or tokens are assigned to their users, run the walk test from the keypad (MENU 3-9-0) to verify that every zone works before handing over.
When to call an electrician
The keypad is powered from the panel LAN and needs no mains work. Use a licensed electrician for any fixed mains wiring on the job, and a licensed security installer for the panel programming and door-control setup.
